Juan Carlos Ovies is a senior attorney of Fayad Law, P.C., in the firm’s Fairfax office. He practices immigration law. He has worked extensively in matters involving immigration, criminal, administrative, real estate and contract law.

Mr. Ovies has been serving the immigrant community in the United States, as an immigration attorney, first in New York and now in Virginia, for the past four years. He had previously served in the U.S. Department of Justice, as a Special Assistant United States Attorney for the District of Puerto Rico, where together with investigators from different agencies (F.B.I., D.E.A., A.T.F., I.C.E., and H.S.I.), he prosecuted criminal cases involving drug trafficking and illegal firearms. Before that, he served as a State Prosecutor in Puerto Rico, where he investigated and prosecuted serious violation of law, including murder and other serious crimes.

His broad experience includes serving as the Lead Counsel for “ACUDEN”, a government agency that headed the federal programs of Head Start and Child Care in Puerto Rico, promoting school readiness of children under 5 from low-income families, through education, health, social and access to high-quality child care and early education, promoting not only a child’s development, but also helping support parents who are struggling to balance work and family. He also served as counsel for the Municipality of Trujillo Alto in Puerto Rico, where he served the local community with all issues that involved their local government.

He earned his J.D. in 2008 from the Interamerican University of Puerto Rico School of Law, Cum Laude, and his B.A. in 2004 from University of Puerto Rico. He is admitted to the bar of Puerto Rico and authorized to practice before the Executive Office for Immigration Review.
